Aim:
• To promote professional, economical and social interests for its members
• To promote development of the dietietic profession
• To promote training, education and work of dietitians
• To promote international professional contacts

International activities
• Nordic co-operation via annual meetings since 1985
• Member of EFAD since 1978.Participation/responsibility different working
  groups and reports
• Member of ICDA since start.

Education programmes for dietitians in Sweden
• At three universities
• Basic course, 3 years leads to a BSc in Catering or Dietetics
• A fourth year leads to a MSc in Catering or Dietetics

Work of dietitians in Sweden:
Administrative dietitians: focused on food service management with responsibility for feeding of groups of people in health and disease in an institution or a community

Clinical dietitians: focused on clinical nutrition and dietietics with responsibility for dietary prevention and treatment of individuals in an institution or a community
• Most common working area; both administrative and clinical dietitians:
  the health care field (hospitals, nursing homes and primary health care)
• Administrative dietitians also work in staff-, school- and military
  restaurants in catering companies and as community advisors,
• Clinical dietitians also work in pharmaceutical companies, in public
  health, in research and with the media
